Just guessing, the thermostat looks easy enough, but the heater looks like that could be a bit tough if that turns out to be the problem.

You may want to start the troubleshooting first.

Hey Gene,
So here is my issue.
Just recently I noticed that my freezer works fine while my fridge no longer gets as cold or keeps the food as cold as it use to.
I did the dollar bill test. No visible blockage in the air ducts that cool the fridge unit. The evaporator fan runs fine. The condenser coils are cleaned.
However, *The evaporator coils have more than just a light layer of snow on them. *It is definitely covered in layers of ice, some regions more than others. *What I think is the heating unit is completely frozen.
I've concluded that that there is something wrong with the thermostat so cold air isn't making its way through the damper to the refrigerator. Please correct if I'm wrong because I really have no other clue.
Thanks,
-Thomas

*Correction* I meant to say that there is something wrong with the defrost system.

How badly the evaporator coils are frozen up? Can the air flow still go through?
What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Gene,
First of all, thanks for the service you provide here. I've used this site numerous times over the years to fix things around the house and have saved a lot of money in the process.
I have the typical problem of the fridge not cooling properly, but the freezer side working fine.
I changed the ADCB and Defrost Heater assembly. That did fix the problem of severe ice buildup in the freezer side, but the fridge still won't get below 40 degrees even after 24hrs+.
Inspected the areas listed below and found the following: 1) Evap fan running fine. 2) Appears to be no blockage in vents to/from fridge. 3) Cleaned compressor compartment of all dust behind the fridge. Compressor fan is running fine; nothing appears to be out of the ordinary with the compressor. 4) Can feel cool (though I wouldn't call it cold) air blowing into the fridge through the vents. There doesn't appear to be any appreciable reduction in airflow whether the styrofoam ducting/assembly is removed or when I replace it. I don't know how many CFM of air is supposed to be going into the fridge, but to my untrained eye/feel, it doesn't feel like a lot.
Not sure where to go from here. I've read that if the freezer is working fine then it's unlikely that the temp control in the fridge is faulty. Possibly a faulty damper system...if so, is there an easy way to test? Something else? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The air return does not appear to be blocked...air is flowing through it. The measured temp in the fridge is 44 degrees and it won't get any colder than that regardless of what coldness setting is selected.

Sorry bout that...temp in the freezer is showing 2 degrees. Freezer temp setting is at midpoint, fridge is currently at coldest setting (which I've gradually increased over a couple of days from midpoint with no change). No noticeable change in air flow from the damper with the freezer open.
