when my refrigerator turns of it makes a loud clunking noise, please help?

I cannot find any info on the given model number.
A loud bang/clunk when the compressor shuts off usually means the compressor is on it's last legs. There are mechanical problems inside the compressor.
It may last days or months. There is no way to tell but the unit cannot be trusted any more. When it finally fails you could loose several hundreds of dollars in food so I would turn it into a beer fridge if you have a need for such a thing.
I would check it just to be sure that it is not due to a bad compressor mount (rubber feet/washers under the compressor mounting bolts).
Replacing a compressor will be an expensive repair as you need a pro. Often it makes more sense to invest those dollars in a new unit.
Check your warranty as many units have a longer warranty on the sealed system/compressor. |
