Old Maytag washer is leaking water in to the tub while not running. If left it will fill up over a couple days. I think we may need to replace the water inlet valve but are not sure. Would appreciate any help and quick! Thank you!:)

Try this: Unplug the machine. Watch it over a period of time. If you come back and see water in the tub, chances are excelent that you need to replace the water inlet valve. These valves are electric-solenoid controlled. If debris gets through the inlet screening and fouls the valve, it won't seat completely, and water will be allowed to seep through. They are not servicable; they must be replaced when they get to this stage. Part number: AP4026239
