What you have is a defrost problem. What you need to do is take the back panel of the freezer off, and on the bottom of the evaporator coils is the heater. Take the 2 phillip head screws out that hold the heater assembly in place, and then gently pull the wires off of each end, and ohm out the heater, if it is good, then the motherboard which is located behind the refrigerator is bad. If you pull out the refrigerator, on the back wall is a panel held in by three 1/4 inch screws. Take them out, and the board is behind it. This is an easy repair. Tom

I have the same problem - the defrost cycle is not working. I've had a repair man come and diagnose the board, find it is bad, and replace it THREE TIMES! There must be a root cause here, because the chances of three boards going bad within a month is pretty high. Any ideas??

I know that some houses where I live are old, I mean 1930's old. what can these people do for this? and we have a common occurance of storm related power outages. I live in the Kearny / hayden arizona area. also, due to surges caused by storms, are the power companies responsible for repairs? I know that probably isn't your field, but I had to ask.
