Can anyone help me. My lint screen light went on and my dryer will not work now. I removed the panel at the bottom and the the cover over the lint area and cleaned it up. (There was a lot of lint in there...) I put it back together and it is still flashing when I try to start it and won't turn on.... Could the sensor be replaced? Is this something I can do? I have never worked on a dryer before and I just do not know what to do next.

A melting type fuse mounts on the blower housing and is tied into the same circuit as the door switch. When it melts it shuts down everything and this keeps the lint from catching fire. It looks like this:

The Same thing happened to me and I tried exactly what you did. When I opened the bottom front to see if it was the thermal fuse, I saw the belt was broken. I replaced the belt and it worked fine.
