Our 13 year old GE XL 44 oven wont heat. Had a repair guy look at it and told us it was a bad "dayglow" device (?), not the electronic igniter that I guessed. $300 to repair. I declined and paid the service call (about $40). Any advice on whether I was being taken to the cleaners, or is the repair typically this much?

Then explained that it was some sought of dayglow (?) device , not the electronic igniter, hence the price of $300 to repair. Sounds fishy to me.
