I've got the same problem - drain tube freezes up (a few times now). Kenmore model#106.63182302. What can I do to keep it from freezing up?

There most likely is a restriction in the drain tubing causing condensate to back up in the tube... Another possibility is heavy frost buildup on the evap coil usually experienced by folks who live in extremely humid areas of our country... Typically water will still be dripping off the evap coil at the end of the defrost cycle and freeze in the pan and while trickling down the drain tube eventually freezing closed with subsequent defrost cycles... One trick I've used is a short bare piece of copper wire hung or coiled around the defrost heater and left dangling inside the drain tube... Of course one has to be careful if the heater is a glass type and you wouldn't want to clamp this wire too tight around the metal tubular heaters either... It can damage those types also... Good luck - cheers kooler
