Bought safety valve AP2131109 (3203459). Now when oven ignites flames shoot above the oven bottom about a foot. Gets to 400 degrees in less than a minute. I'm presuming this is not normal. Looking at the old valve and the new . The old valve looks as if it has a smaller orifice than does the new. Did they send me a Nat gas? The old orifice also sits low from the base of the valve than the new. Should i send it back for replacement? what should i do

What kind of gas supply is used for the oven? All parts for gas appliances are sold for natural gas only everywhere in US.

Its a LP gas feed. The information on the sticker of the new valve says liquid propane.

A bigger orifice is for natural gas and this is the only way how such parts sold. In case if appliance has to be converted to LP all manufacturers used a conversion kit which usually included a different (smaller) orifices. The part number for this safety valve does not have any references about LP gas. This is very interesting and I appreciate if you can post this sticker. Gene. P.S. Very likely this range has been converted by someone else.

Gene This is a zip file. The "G-LP" info is easily seen.

The sticker on the gas valve says "G-LP .5 P.S.I." which means "1/2 PSI max inline pressure" and nothing else. This is standard for all domestic gas ranges.

Try to use the orifice from the old valve.
