My Whirlpool fridge side by side freezer is not cooling at all. Fan and lights work, no crazy sounds at all from the compression pump. But no sounds at all from the pump. Do you think the defrost timer has gone bad?

Model #- EDZZPOXFNOL

The fridge was purchased in 99

I cannot find any info on the given model number, please check it.
It does not look like a valid Whirlpool number.

Sorry on the number. Here is the right one

ED22POXFN01

I heard a clicking sound , I believe it is the starter relay for the compressor. I took the part out and shook it, hearing a rattle sound and small bits like a pepper shaker starting pouring out. Thoughts?

Here is a parts search.
Are you sure it is POX ann not PQX.

Sounds like your start device may be toast.
Here is a good link on how to check things.
