Our dishwasher Maytag (MDB7130AWB) frequently hangs up mid-cycle. Typically we find it flashing "2" in the drain mode. When this happens we have to turn it off, re-start in the drain mode and then rinse mode to remove soap and then dry by hand. Other option is to start the entire cycle over hoping it will complete the wash AND dry. Any knowledge you have of this issue is appreciated.

All I can offer is sympathy and hope someone answers you and me. Our model MDB7160AWB will not complete cycle either; it starts for 2 seconds and shuts down.
Technician coming 8/16. Will share what we learn.
8/16 - technician found circuit board cooked, clearly a brown overheated area. Repair cost will be in excess of $200, not worth it for 12 yr old dishwasher. 10 years is good, 15 is exceptional.

The board is easily accessible - remove liner of door, power off of course, 6 screws, remove black plastic cover to see board.

Our malfunctions could be different but both symptoms imply the brains of the machines have become demented, one more seriously than the other. Good luck.
