My Viking dishwasher seems to have no power when the door is shut. There is power at the outlet .Is there an internal fuse or something else I should be looking for before I start pulling it out of the cabinet?

Nothing comes up with the given Model Number.
You should not have to pull the unit. Most times it is a door switch either the switch itself or the actuator that causes the problem. Remove the door liner and take a look. You can also check for a fuse. Often there are two switches, one for Neutral and one for Line. Both must be closed for the unit to get power.
Unplug the unit and check them with a meter. Should be able to fake a door closed status.
If you do not have a meter. Unplug the unit, remove the wires from the switches, short the wires for each switch together, tape them up so they cannot short to anything, leave the door open. Place the timer at the start of a cycle and plug it in. If it starts up you know the problem is with the switches. It is a good idea to tape plastic or a towel over the front of the unit just in case the pump starts up, you do not want to get soaked. Also not a good idea when electricity is present.
Note where the wires attach to the switch. Sometimes they use 3 connector switches but only use two (Common and Normally Open) contacts. If you reconnect to the Normally Closed it will be messed up. |
