Hi Gene, I believe not. I can hear the motor noise running only when I close to the back of the refrigerator. I think that normal noise. Initially problem is ice maker stop making ice ( but it has water in ice dispenser) and the ice cream is melt. Here what I already replaced: First two technicians told me that ice maker needs to replace and I did replace a new one, but still have a same problem and water did not get in the dispenser, new ice maker. Third technician said "the control board", then I replaced it; still not making ice and no water ( I forgot to mention that I still get a water from the door). I called four technician and described the defect on the phone with him; he guessed my refrig. has defrost problem. I checked the back wall of the freezer and saw the coil was cover with ice flake ( not thick ice as I saw on the internet). I replaced defrost heater thermostat and defrost thermostat but not solve the problem. Now only one Temperature sensor (evaporator thermostat) I have not replaced it yet. Do you think this Temp. sensor could control the ice making? Why the water not get into the dispenser, new ice maker? Please advice. Thanks, Tammy

Next suggestion was to replace the harness so expensive it wouldn't be worth it. My husband said I think it is the switch $8.00 latter he found the problem. The parts store said it was fine, but my husband believed they were wrong. They were. Good Luck

Melted ice cream points to insufficient temperature in the freezer. If the temperature is above 10°F - the ice maker would not work. An ice flake on the evaporator coils means that the system is low on Freon or there is a restriction in the system. It has nothing to do with any parts from the defrost system nor the control board. Gene.
