You don't need to take apart the front assy, but you do need to remove the boot from the front door section to do this. When you have the front boot off, you will need 8 hand to reinstall the spring :) When the front boot is ordered, it comes with rubber wedges. These wedges are used to hold the spring while you work it around. You'll see what I'm talking about when you start putting the spring back on.

The boot does come with instructions, I was making a joke, I meant 8 hands, because you need to hold the spring in like 4 places to keep it from coming out while you try to get it around. That is what the wedges are for, and the wedges do come with the boot also a new spring.
