My Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer starts and stops all the time. When it stops I can get it to start again when I slam the freezer door a few times not the most reliable method and right now it doesn't seem to want to start.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Check out #2, this would be at the top of my list

Sounds like a bad/loose connection or a compressor relay.

If the unit is totally dead re:no lights then you have a bad connection
Instead of slamming the door wiggle the thermostat

this can be easy to fix. what might be wrong with your refrigerator is one of 2 things 1 it may need a new thermostat.2 it might need a new starter

Turns out it was the thermostat which both of you diagnosed correctly.

Thanks again.
