The igniter in oven is glowing but no gas coming out. The stove range works fine. The problem is there is no gas for oven when it is turned on. Could this be the "safety valve" located in broiler section? Does part # AP2022762 sound like what I need? Any advice is appreciated. Any critical safety issues I need to be aware of? I would hate to spend $60.00 if it doesn't work. Thanks Higgs

It is most likely the glowbar, and not the safety valve. The glowbar must draw 3.2amps to open the safety valve and let gas in. The glow bar at room temp should read between 50-150 ohms, if it does not, it is bad and needs to be replaced.

ok just tested glowbar. It is reading 199 Ohms, getting resistance. So it should still be good right? Also tested the safety valve it is reading 2.3 volts. Also getting resistance for ohms. Im a novice at this, however got my father in law involved with some experience, he has a sophisticated electronic gadget that gave us these readings. He seems to know what he's doing. He like myself are thinking it could still be safety valve? Let me review the problem again with you. The oven is not getting any gas. The glow bar glows, but oven not heating up. There simply is no gas coming out at all. The stove range works fine. Im trying to save my senior next door neighbor from having to buy a new oven. She said it is only 5 years old. She said in the past, the oven would start slow and than sometimes it would work and other times not. Now it doesn't work at all. She uses this as a second oven, however she loves to cook and is lost without it. Father in law said the 199 ohms on glow bar should be plenty to fire it up, after all you sugested 50-150 ohms. Could it be the safety valve? Any thoughts? Thanks Higgs
