and I was saying that; that Paticular Front Load frigidaire washer has been around a long time! longer than low sudsing HE detergent has.Of course you probably already know that with 25 years working on them but no where in the manual because it's such an old design and uses more water than the Newer desined hi efficient machines does it say "HE" MUST BE USED. And ON this machine I highly doubt the soap had anything to do with it, The fact that its a piece of crap front loder would have something to do with it Because its a cheap piece of crap washer

thanks for the further replies and I did not mean to start an ruckis but the manual does state that the detergent that I am using is ok but at a reduced amount...

Next question.

What parts need to be replaced and what is the cost usually associated with the parts themselves?

I had a guy out here yesterday to check the banging noise on spin and sure enough it was the inner tub. One of the arms is broke so the estimate was for $480 that includes parts, labor, tax and the $60 service call i'm already in for. Looking online I can get the parts cheaper to bring my total costs down to $398 total out of pocket including parts, labor, tax the service call fee.

All that said I can't find another washer like this for less than $650/$700. Is it really worth buying a new one? Will I only get another three/four years out of it with the replacement? I have used the correct HD detergent and followed all guidelines to a "T". Any suggestions would be much appreciated and welcomed!

Thanks!

A good rule of thumb is If you can fix it for half the cost of a new one it's worth fixing Taking into consideration the overall condition of the machine other than whats broke if it looks new and in excellant shape. Unless you are going to do the repair yourself I WOULD RECOMMEND buying the parts from the person fixing it only because it's worth the xtra 100 bucks for his warranty on the parts. If he agrees to fix it with your parts and something goes wrong with it he would have every right to blame the problem on the cheap parts, and get out of any liability. Know what I mean? Then you would be stuck dealing with shipping parts back etc. etc. big hassles,, wasted time with 800 customer service,, and junk like that

Thanks v2k... I went ahead and purchased a new one. It ended up costing me $89 more than fixing the old one.

Overloading these is one of the biggest problems because the drum has no support in the front and so the strain on the bearing is greater than it should be. Don't jam the thing full of clothers to the top of the drum. The HE soap is better because regular soap will cause a huge build up inside that outer plastic tub and soap will stay in your clothes. You can run the machine with NO soap and a clean bath towel or two and see if soap comes out of it. If you are using regular soap I can almost promise you it ill look like a bubble bath in there. The only models I personally have seen bearings go out in are the Kenmoore He3's and older Whirlpool Duets. Not sure if the He4's and 5's had better bearings put in them or what but they seem to hold up .
