The dryer was tripping the breaker and now it just heats glowing hot on each temp cycle until i assume the thermal overload shut it down. After it cools a bit it starts heating all over again. What up with this? Thanks.

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL TEDS840JQ2 DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for the wiring diagram.

You may have a grounded element.

Check the heating coil.
Unplug the unit and both wires to the coil.
Check it with a meter, should be around 10 to 12 ohms.
Then check from each side of the coil to the case/frame, both should be infinite ohms (open). If not the coil may have sagged or broken and is touching the case. This can cause it to run on all temperature settings.
