I have a Frigidaire side by side refrigerator that will be cooling normally, then stops cooling and both freezer and fridge part gets warm. Unplugging for a few hours, then plug it back and it starts cooling again. I have replaced the relay and run capacitor on the compressor but didn't help problem. Could it be defrost thermostat?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for FRIGIDAIRE FRS23R4AW7 Frigidaire/refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...f/Anderson/240389607.pdfCould be a couple things. At the top of my list would be a main thermostat sticking open. Next time it happens just turn the thermostat back and forth a few times or give it a tap to see if the compressor fires up. I doubt it is the defrost thermostat but stranger things have happened. You could force a defrost (see the tech sheet) and see if the defrost heater stays on after all the ice/frost has melted off the evaporator coils. Unplugging the unit for hours would have no effect on this. Have you checked that the condenser/compressor fan is running when ever the compressor is on? Could be the adaptive defrost board is not coming out of defrost. But you would not have to unplug it for several hours to get that unit running again. Unplug it for 5 minutes or so and the board should reset to cooling mode. |
