My GE Monogram 42" side by side built-in refridgerator with water, crushed and cubed ice dispencer from door stopped dispencing. It will still dispence water and make ice, but won't dispence crushed or regular ice from the door.
I know the auger is not turning, this is what pushes the ice out. It stopped working after crushing ice for about ten minutes for a party we had. Possibly I burned somthing out, any ideas?

thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Did the ice door open when you push the lever? Did you hear any noise?

Gene.

The ice door does open and I hear a buzz.

Mike,

Check for 120VAC to the auger motor with the door switches depressed and the ice dispenser calls for ice. The wires should be removed from the motor.

Gene,
I am looking behind the ice bin and I see several screws and bolts against the back panel. It also looks like I would need to remove the auger fork to remove the panel, am I looking in the right area? or should I be looking above the freezer where I see a mother board.

Mike.

Mike,

You have to remove the ice bin, the ice maker and the cover for the motor & solenoid (#813 on the break down diagram). You do not have to remove the fork for this test. You can test the solenoid for continuity at the same time.

josephterrazas,

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator? You have to perform some tests to find out which part is bad.

Gene,

Thank you for the info, I am so busy at work right now I have small windows of time and energy to trouble-shoot this fridge. Saturday I will try opening the panel and check the motor and selenoid.

Thanks again, Mike.
