The LED blinks four times when a mode shifter error is detected.

Try to reset the error code. Unplug the washer for a few minutes. Reconnect the power and open and close the lid 10 times within 12 seconds.

If it would not help then remove the shifter coil plug (the only plug with the two wires) from the inverter and check the resistance across these two wires. Normal reading suppose to be about 98 Ohms.

If the coil is open, the mode shifter assembly must be replaced.

If the reading is correct, replace the motor assembly. for some models the motor assembly has to be replaced together with the mode shifter assembly.

If you need the correct part numbers, post the complete model number of the washer and the motor part number from the motor inverter top cover. If there are no labels, check the label on the motor itself.

Gene,

I have a GE model WHDRR41861WW. The washer would not agitate or spin, but it would pump water. I did not see the LED so I replaced the fuse. Now I see the LED clearly and there are no fault codes after running it thru one cycle. The washer still will not agitate or spin. Any recommendations?

have a ge model WLRR5000GOWW washer that i replaced the shifter coil on. I went through all the steps to check it and all checks confirmed the shifter coil was bad. Now the winky blinky blinks 6 times saying the motor is bad. I was just curious if it is common for the motor and shifter coil to go out at the same time.

Bypass the lid switch and run the washer. Make sure the wires from the lid switch are not pinched or broken.

Unfortunately a bad shifter coil can cause a damage to the motor inverter.

Before you replace the motor do the following:

Try to clear the error code: disconnect the power for a few minutes, reconnect the power and open and close the lid 10 times within 12 seconds.

Remove the belt and turn the large pulley. It should move freely in both directions. If it's not then you may want to make sure there is nothing stuck between the inner & outer tubs and the mode shifter is installed properly.

Unplug the washer. Cut the wires connected to the lid switch about 10" from the lid switch and connect them together. Make sure it's not touching any metal parts. Plug the washer back and give it a try.

I want you to know that this fix (bypass) is just temporary, mostly for the diagnosis only. You can not use the washer in such condition. The lid switch has to be replaced.

Im unable to begin a new posting, so Im jumping in on this one..
My model wwse5240g0ww is a no agitate spin
I did a continuity test from wall plug ends to motor plug
I have powers and ground present at motor
It fills and drains
The 2 prong to device on shaft Ohm's out good
Good LEDs with no fault codes present
GE reset = nothing..
Thanks in advance for your time and talent.:)
