I have a kenmore washer ( not sure how old) but it no longer spins. I was told I needed a coupling, which I bought. However, I cannot figure out how to install it. I tipped the machine on its side to access the bottom. The coupling is wedged between, what I think is the motor and a metal covering, which may be the transmission. I am not sure how to remove the motor ( there doesnt seem to be any bolts). Do I have to remove the metal piece? I am a single mom and cannot afford to pay a repairman, so I am determined to do this myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Yes it did agitate and drain.

My first problem began when my motor coupler broke and I received a replacement (newly designed with metal inserts on each side of the plastic pieces of the coupler). I replaced the couple and did a test run with no clothes and all the cycles completed successfully. I then put just a few clothes into the drum and tried this again......no go. The machine will agitate fine but when it begins the spin cycle, I can hear the relay clicking trying to engage the motor to spin the tub over and over again quickly then just stops. The tub does begin to spin for about 3 seconds then just stops.

I read through some of your other forums and I unfortunately did pick the transmission up the shaft a couple times. I can spin the coupler and see the motor and transmission shaft turn. Should I focus on the tub now?
Any suggestions?

Hey Gene, I don't have the exact data that you are asking for. All I know is that its a Kenmore 90 series Super Capacity Plus with the Quiet Pack III and it was bought new in 1998 from Sears. I just pulled the control pannel and see that the manufacturer left the wire diagram but it doesn't come out and say any particular model number...all I see on wire diagram is part no: 3953250
