Have a GE Dishwasher (Model PDW7880JOOSS) which is about 5 years old. Since the past few weeks, the dishes are not being rinsed thoroughly. Especially on the black coffee mugs, etc we can clearly see a thin film of the dishwashing soap. We talked to the Water Dept, and they did say they have been receiving calls from other customers and the problem should hopefully go away in a few days. Matter-of-fact, some of our neighbors did have the same problem. For them, the problem went away in a few days, but for us we still have to add 2 cups of vinegar for each wash ! Also tried running an empty cycle using CLR, but that has not helped. Dishes are clean as long as we add 2 cups of vineger. Hate to replace a relatively new dishwasher. Please advise.

Try reducing the amount of detergent you use.

Try a different brand of detergent.

Add a small amount of rinse aid just after the last fill (rinse) to see if that helps.
Perhaps the unit is not adding rinse aid.
