We have a GE dishwasher, probably 7-10 years old, we found it in the house when we moved it, and last night when I ran it, it washed the dishes but it did not rinse the soap foam and part of the foam came out of dishwasher without anybody opening the dishwasher door. We just found lots of foam on the kitchen ceramic tiles and when we opened the dishwasher door there was lots of soap foam in there. We tried to run it again but it did not start the way it should have been so we decided to take the dishes out and rinse them in the sink.I have just tried to run it empty and it seems to work but not sure it will work the whole cycle. However, the past couple of weeks I noticed that it did not wash properly the dishes on the upper rack, as the dishes were coated with a lot of residue. I really appreciate if anybody have a clue about what it could be and what we should do to address this issue. Thanks.

You're not washing all the liquid soap you wash the dishes with in the sink before putting it in the dishwasher or your adding too much or a bad type of soap. Change soap brands recently or do you have a kid that would add liquid hand soap to the unit?
