Washer will not run. It made a noise and then briefly smelled like burning rubber. Checked belts underneath and they are fine. Lid swith seems to be working. Where do I go next. Power to washer good.

Where did the noise seem to come from?
I would check the motor.

If possible check the motor to see if power is going to and thru it.
