My Maytag runs hot water continuously throughout all cycles.

We have hard water. Is there an internal valve that could be stuck open?

Yes it could be a sticking valve, Item 8 in Section 2.

If you can shut the water off by unplugging the unit then it is probably not the valve as removing power from it does shut it off.
The most probable cause is then the timer.
