Press and hold the "Air dry" button for 5 seconds to unlock the controls. Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dishwasher Model DU948PWKQ1Gene.

Gene,
Followed your instructions and after holding "air dry" button down for 5 seconds, light did go off. Then pushed other buttons to try and start cycle and nothing happened. Any suggestions? Thanks again..
Jack

Jack, When you said "nothing", it was nothing at all or something like lights or noises did happen? Try to open and close the door and then restart it. Try to unplug the power cord (or turn "off" the breaker if there is no plug) fora few minutes to reset the controls. Post the results. Gene.

Gene,
Held button down for 5 then green light went out on lock button. When I released my finger from "air dry button" , green light on lock button came back on. There is no noise at all coming from dishwasher and as I tried to push other buttons to start a cycle or just have it do something, nothing is happening. I tried to unplug power cord and let sit, as well as, shut off main power. We have no history of this dishwasher because we are under contract to buy home and owners are gone.. Could this be something along the lines of the control panel which might not be working? Thanks for you time with this Gene..
Jack

azguy...of course gene is the expert, but the issue you're having seems similar to mine from last year. I purchased a new control board from gene and installed...no problems since. Good luck!

Hi Jack,
We checked out if the Control lockout future was not turn "on" accidentally and we found it was not.
Most likely the problem is a bad key pad which is a part of the console. In order to provide the right part number for the console I need the color of the control panel.
Gene.

Jack, The part number for the white console is AP3126202. If you click on the part number, it says "out of stock". Call the customer service at 877-477-7278 and they will help you. Gene.

Gene,
The dishwasher that started this thread is giving me fits again. This time I have no lights no sounds...just nothing. I've tested the two wires that connect to the control board and they have juice, but i'm not sure what to check next. Thoughts?
