First of all I want to thank you for this blog. Without it I would have ended up paying triple for this repair!

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio electric dryer just over one year old. Last week it stopped working but the lights would come on and I could hear the sensor clicking - nothing else. After doing some online detective work (here!) I determined the thermal fuse needed replacing. I did that and also removed any lint build up from in and around the dryer cabinet and vent hose. Now the dryer is running too hot even on casual mode. The timer works fine and so do all the other settings but the clothes and the laundry room get very hot. The clothes were so hot I had to let them cool down before removing them from the drum! What is the next step?

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL WED6600WL0 29``ELECTRIC DRYER | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a manual
Whirlpool 8178584 Cabrio Dryer Service Manual - ApplianceDigest.com
You may have to join the site to get the manual but it is free and a great site for appliance info.

I would check the following
The thermistors.

Check for a grounded element.
Check the heating coil.
Unplug the unit and both wires to the coil.
Check it with a meter, should be around 10 to 12 ohms.
Then check from each side of the coil to the case/frame, both should be infinite ohms (open). If not the coil may have sagged or broken and is touching the case. This can cause it to run on high and the thermostats cannot regulate it so the thermal cut-off blows.

I checked the coil and it was fine. I replaced the thermistor then turned on the dryer. It worked fine the first time. Had it on low fow about 15 minutes and the temperature seemed correct. I turned it off then switched the dial to normal and attempted to turn it on but all I got was clicking like the original problem.

What is happening now? Is the thermal fuse blown again?

Yes it could be that the thermal fuse has blown again.
You will have to check it.
Try the diagnostics to see if anything comes up.
If everything looks OK and you are sure that the vent system is OK then it is probably the control board.

Note: I am not 100% sure about this as it could also be a bad connection somewhere but that would probably be next to impossible to find.
