First of all I want to thank you for this blog. Without it I would have ended up paying triple for this repair!
I have a Whirlpool Cabrio electric dryer just over one year old. Last week it stopped working but the lights would come on and I could hear the sensor clicking - nothing else. After doing some online detective work (here!) I determined the thermal fuse needed replacing. I did that and also removed any lint build up from in and around the dryer cabinet and vent hose. Now the dryer is running too hot even on casual mode. The timer works fine and so do all the other settings but the clothes and the laundry room get very hot. The clothes were so hot I had to let them cool down before removing them from the drum! What is the next step?

I checked the coil and it was fine. I replaced the thermistor then turned on the dryer. It worked fine the first time. Had it on low fow about 15 minutes and the temperature seemed correct. I turned it off then switched the dial to normal and attempted to turn it on but all I got was clicking like the original problem.
What is happening now? Is the thermal fuse blown again?

Try the diagnostics to see if anything comes up. If everything looks OK and you are sure that the vent system is OK then it is probably the control board.
Note: I am not 100% sure about this as it could also be a bad connection somewhere but that would probably be next to impossible to find. |
