I replaced the heating element and now it glows bright red constantly regardless of the setting. Could wires be on wrong? Could thermostat nedd to be replaced?

Sounds like the heating element is shorted to the ground. Double check its installation, the element itself and all wires.

There is no on line version for this model due to age of it. You can try to contact Frigidaire.

Make sure the heating coils do not touch the body. Disconnect the wires from the heating element and check for continuity between each of terminals and the ground.
