this is a dual wave with microwave on top and regular oven below. Regular ovens temp is about a hundred degrees below digital display and digital display rules. A temporary fix is to set the temp about a hundred degrees above desired temp and use an oven thermometer. Where to start? Thanks Crazyman

How old is this unit? 100 degrees is alot, check the resistance in the Sensor, 15 ohm at room temp.

You can find it here as "Switch, thermostat".

The model number is generally referred to as one of these:
JKP78G*K1
JKP78G*K2
JKP78G*K3
JKP78G*K4

Happy to help.

Hello. I looked for "switch, thermostat" and came up empty. I saw a "thermostat" that has been discontinued.

Any advice? I have this unit with the same problem described above by crazyman, except my unit can fluctuate up or down significantly.

Thank you,

Sam

Update: I originally searched by model # and then looked at the parts list.

I just searched by part description using "switch, thermostat" and quite a few came up.

Can you possibly be more specific as to which part # is needed for this unit (JKP78G*K3)?

Thanks again,

Sam

Sam,

Most likely the problem with your oven is a bad oven control board. Unfortunately this part has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric JKP78G*K3 Electric range | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you, Gene.

To clarify, please:

You are saying that the post, above, re the problem being the thermostat switch, is most likely incorrect?

FYI, I have already replaced the temp sensor, the lower heating element, and I sent the control board out to be serviced (it's been a while, I don't remember who serviced it). All to no avail.

Thanks again,

Sam

Sam,

This thermostat switch is a safety device used for self clean and has nothing to do with the cooking temperature.

The oven sensor, the oven control board and the wiring harness between them - there is nothing else involved in the cooking temperature control.
