Side by side, water line tube that goes through bottom door hinge is broken. I have the door off, but need assistance in taking it apart to replace the line.

Mr greene, We really need a model number for your refrigerator, it would be a great help. Is the tubing broken, inside the door , or too close to the hinge to splice with a connector ? The model number is FD5FHAXSS02 If the people who took the door off knew there was a disconnect under the front, this would not have been a problem. They cut the line at the place where it comes out of the hinge below the door. I do not think there is enough line coming out of the door to make it through the hinge for a splice below the hinge. Is there a way to get inside the door and do a splice in the door itself above where it goes through the hinge? Originally Posted by: Joe / APP Team Mr greene,

This unit is a "solid core" door, everything is foamed in palce, and it can't be dismantled, without Major consequences. I was hoping there was a channel in the door that would allow you to replace, the fill tube, but based on my information, there's not. In short, you'll need to replace the complete freezer door assembly. Part number: AP4242321

It probably is a foam filled door. Any chance of pulling a new line through the door using the old line from the water outlet. Is the tube accessable through the place where the water and ice dispenses? This is not my refrigerator. My Aunt was foreclosed on her house and the guys that moved it out cut the line. Obviously she does not have much money and i am trying to help her out. I am pretty handy mechanically if it is possible.

Mr. Greene, I've tried to re run a new water line, a couple of times, with a little success, it didn't go very well on either attempts. Were it me, I'd check to see how much tube is left (3/4 to 1 inch) after the hinge would probably be just enough length to install a "john guess" fitting. (it's a "snap in" compression fitting). Part number: AP3890557
( you'd save your aunt some money, and you a lot of work). At least I'd try that, first. Good Luck, :) :) :)
