Hi all. It a Frigidaire frt12crh HWO.
Anyway it has condensor on back with no fan.air cooled.
I pulled evaporator cover and fan isn't working. I let it on for over 24 hours and evaporator wasn't really getting cold. But the heatexhanger was building up frost quickly. After 24 hours it had a good build up of ice.
The fan not working wouldn't cause this, would it?? Also can some one explain what the heat exhanger does? Is refrigerator junk??
Thank You

If it's less than a year old, I would put everything back the way it was a call a certified tech. Let Frigidaire repair it Nat

It worked fine for about a month. When i say heat exhanger i mean the thing next to the evaporator with a thin copper tube running into a bladder that looks like a Co2 tank. That's what is freezing up. the fridge is at least 5 years old.

The heat exchanger cools the liquid going into the capillary tube. Look near the compressor and see if there is a tapon on one of the coper tubes. It just a little attachement for freon.

Ok. I will check tomorrow. I think i looked already but didn't see anything. Here is the parts illustration of the fridge. The frozen thing i'm referring to is #13 on the System illustration.

Do you have a frost pattern on the whole evaporator coil?
