maytag dryer worked fine then a few hours later wont turn on

our 3 yr old maytag dryer had been working fine then went to use it a few hours later and it wont turn on. never showed any problems was drying like it should and then went to use it and nothing wont turn on , the light in side works .any ideas as to what i could check on it?

Yes it is most likely the thermal fuse. It is mounted to the heater. It is item #6 on the picture of your product, on the heater picture. You could always jump it out hjust to check it and see if it works, but don't run it that way. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Here are your parts, includes a wiring diagram Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDE308DAYW DRYER- ELE | AppliancePartsPros.comYou may want to check the power. On this unit the light bulb works off of L2 while the motor runs off of L1. So if you loose the L1 side, it will not start. Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. If this does nothing, check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip.
