One of those seals should be the right one. I go by the diameter of the old seal. It should fit tight on the input shaft. Use a drop or two of oil to help it slide on after you remove the old seal.

The way I usually do it is to set gearcase on its back and brace it, so the input shaft is facing up. Use a o-ring pick to pull the old seal out or use a small screwdriver. Once its out clean the shaft and slide the new seal on, tapping it flush to the housing with a suitable piece of pipe or a socket the same diameter as the seal.

Good luck with it. If you need oil, use the real Whirlpool oil or 50 wieght non detergent oil.

What is the part number that you have?

I just checked and the part number I have is 285352 seal-oil aw.

It fits every WP gearcase that I have worked on in the last 20 years. (Its the larger of the two seals most of the time)

The correct part for your gearcase is 285352 which crosses to this site's AP3043580.

It should fit. Can you measure your input shafts diameter with a caliper so we can see if its a standard one?

I just measured one of the ones I have sitting here and its a 1/2 inch shaft.

The outside diameter of the seal is 1 and 3/16 of an inch.

Yes, they had to special order the correct seal. The pack came with one like the original wrong seals and one that was the correct size.
