Is there any problem with removing the water pump from my washer (HE3t) while the gas Dryer (HE3) is stacked on top of it? Any reason why I should not stack them? Initially 02 code, cleaned filter but suspect other problem as there is sporadic clunking and stopping of the drum when it is turned by hand.

The water pump should be accessible from the front and I don't see why you can not stack the dryer on top of the washer if they are specifically designed to be stacked.

It wasn't that I can't get to it, it's more a stability question. Are there any repairs, other than opening the top, that should not be done with them stacked (again stability issue)?

You are welcome.
If the dryer is properly installed and mounted on top of the washer then there is no worry about stability.

THANK YOU again for your help. You are saving this DIYer lots of money, which is really appreciated (I've been out of work 2 years as of yesterday).
I believe I either have something between the tub and basket  or a bearing is going out :(. Going to remove the back, pulley and belt and see what the problem is. Anything special about replacing the bearings -- I have a Timken bearing supplier in town--so if I have to go that route, I'd rather be ready.
Thanks again!!!
