I ordered (order #413917) a replacement icemaker (AP2984633 or part # 43179430) and installed unit (plug & screw). When I turned the unit and water on, the water ran into the icemaker and continued to do so until it ran over the top. I shut off water, recycled the power, checked all connections and tried again with same results. My thought is the water inlet valve is not operating. Since this is a replacement icemaker, when I looked for a water inlet valve in parts, no related parts are listed.
The original factory icemaker was Model # ECKMF-6 on Whirlpool Refrigerator Model # ED19TKXLGR0.
Can you please assist?
Thanks Jack

Gene. Gene, The original unit was not operational so I replaced the unit. I am confused why the water continues to run when turned on. I thought the water inlet valve was designed to remain closed if malfunctions. Also I understand that the valve gets powered from the icemaker unit. Could the new replacement unit be "bad"? Any ideas to test either the unit or the valve? Thanks Jack

Jack,
Unplug the ice maker while it's filling up. If water will stop then the ice maker is defective.

Gene,
The repair required a new fill valve. The valve was stuck open. The unit is now functing properly. Thanks for your assistance.
