I own one and refurbished a few for other owners. I have a couple questions and I will see if we can drill down to a fix.

Did you follow this post? Maytag Neptune load unbalance and try the test in the post beginning with my statement “”One last step before you clean up those pesky Clutch Pulley One-Way Roller Clutches/bearing.”” ?

Is the wash tub banging around in Spin Cycle then failing with error code UC or dC unbalance error codes? If so the TDS is signaling to the Control Board properly.

If you are not taking excessive tub swings in Spin Cycle have you checked the range of motion of the TDS in Service Mode with the test on page 27 of the Service Manual?

Did your Clutch Pulley use the Upper Bearing ring? What are the first two digits of your washer Serial Number? The number range is 10 for Series 10 thru 17 for Series 17……….Dick

Yes I did follow the direction in your previous post. Thanks for that. The series of my machine is 10. I do not experience the tub banging at all at the begining of the spin cycle. It tires to start spinning for a quick 3 seconds and then stops. It repeats this for 5 - 10 mins and then displays the unbalanced load error. The spring inside the clutch/pulley did seem to be bent but not broken.

If you release the Washer Top from the base and start a Spin Only Cycle and view the wash basket.

Does the Wash Basket spin CCW with only slight Tumbler rotation before the wash basket begins to rotate CCW?

The Tumblers shoud not rotate once the large wrap SS spring comes under tension.

""The spring inside the clutch/pulley did seem to be bent but not broken. "" Was the Large Wrap SS spring secured by the Pin in the Clutch Pulley and the Pin in the White One-Way Roller Clutch bearing plate mounted on the Clutch Pulley?

Did you clen up the Upper One-Way Roller Clutch bearing also and it and both it and the Clutch Pully mounted One-Way Roller clutch bearings Lock Up solid in the Spin direction as I described in the previous link above.

What are of the thru the lid test of the TDS range of montion checks?

I think I gave you page number from the FAV6800A/FAV9800A SM. The link Gene gave for the SM.pdf has it not sure what the page number is. Let's make sure the TDS is working as designed.

Got to leave for work will check back in tomorrow...good luck.....Dick

do you have the tech sheet for the FAV6800? the 9800 doesn't help and a previous link to the 6800 doesn't work any more.

You are welcome.

If the One-Way Roller Clutch bearing in the Clutch Pulley and the Upper bearing ring can be cleaned up keep them as a spare. Were the parts severely rusted up?

I would reinspect in a few months you may be looking at a Tub Seal replacement down the road. Takes a little bit longer to do and I feel the average DIY'er can accomplish with a little coaching. I have lots of pics from a Series 10 Tub Seal and Outer Tub bearing replacement I did several months ago.

If you don't DIY I would part the machine out. A Tube Seal, Tranny O-ring and Outer Tub Bearings if you decide to replace at that time are low cost but labor cost would not make it worth it.........Dick
