the icemaker will not turn on nor off if I push the on/off buttons,
if I set it manually to on itt will not shut off when the Ice tray is full it keeps making ice for ever.

HD, Did you check the sensor (bale) arm for proper operation and that it locks in the up position ? I would think, that it does not shut off when the bin is full , but works fine otherwise ? I would suspect the auto shut off switch in the control module is bad or the bale arm linkage, that operates the switch is bad. Part number: AP3960700

You will need to remove the icemaker from the freezer compartment. You will need to remove the cover plate to access the mounting plate . You will need to remove the mounting plate to access the shut shut off switch and lever(linkage). A pretty simple repair, just frustrating to access everything. Good Luck, :) :) :)
