I have a Kichen Aide dishwasher that seems to work OK but about 10 min into the washing all the water seems to have drained out and you can hear the pump running dry. At this point I can take a basin of water and fill the cabinet up again, then it works perfect. I should tell you that the unit fills up initially, you can hear the water sloshing for a while, then over the next 10-15 min the pump is running dry. There are no leaks externally. It almost seems like the water is leaking out the drain.

What should I be checking first?

Thanks
Corey

A model number may help others help you.

Also did this unit used to work OK or is this a new install or has the drain plumbing been changed?

I am in the process of finding my owners manual for the Model number( figured that would be the next question) Should have that shortly.

The unit has been installed and working for over a year now, the drain works perfect. This washer has been working perfectly for at least a year, just about a month ago this problem started.

I could not find info on the given model number.
Following tech sheet is for a KUDC03ITBS0
http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%20W10130990.pdf

Here is the parts breakdown for that unit
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL KUDC03ITBS0 Undercounter Dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.com

Try running diagnostics to see if that will turn up any clues.

Check that the drain motor is not running all the time.

Finally got to get a good look at my dishwasher and all the inlet valves, motors, etc are functioning properly. I checked to see if the drain motor was running all the time also, it seems to run at the proper time.

The only thing I can't test is the control board. What is the funtion of this board, does it control all the timing and events for the entire dishwasher? If so has anybody heard of these boards working intermitantly or do they just fail all at once and nothing works. Reason I ask is, I tested the dishwasher and it seems to function properly about 1 out of 3 times. I checked all the connectors and they are all tight. Could the control board be failing causing this sporatic operation?
