The rental condo has a AMANA refrigerator and the evaporator coils are frozen solid.

So, that means that the defrost heating isn't working.

How to fix that?:confused:

ohm out your bi-metal and heater in freezer section. if they check good you have a bad defrost timer.

What should the readings be for these two parts?

I checked the heater element and got about 29 (on a cheap multimeter set to the K(ohm) setting)

As for the bi-metal thermostat, I got a resistance of about 230. (although there is an orange wire going thrrough a hole to the back of the refrigerator. I think that simply ends at a tester connection, but maybe it goes to something else)

Those reading sound pretty good. looks like you need a defrost timer
