About every 5 days I have to take my back panel off my freezer side and use a hair dryer to melt the ice off the coils. Is there a defrost timer on this model Maytag LSD2615HEW? I have search and cant tell. When I take the panel off the fan is working until I unplug it. Any kind of help would greatly be appreciated.

Wilson, No you do not have a defrost timer, in this unit. You have an Adaptive Defrost Control assembly(board). Part number: AP4010220
It is lacated inside the control assembly on the side wall of the fresh food compartment, Have you checked your defrost thermostat and heater , yet ? Good Luck,

Wilson, You check the heater and the thermostat, the same way. The heater should have a closed circuit or approximately 20 ohms resistance(depending on what resistance scale you use. The thermostat should be an open circuit(no resistance) at room temperature and a closed circuit below 35 degrees. If both components check properly, you will need an ADC board. Were it me, I would replace the inoperative part and the ADC board, but that's just me. Good Luck, :) :) :)
