Not cooling, on either side, though controls to the max on freezer and ref side. so i unplugged for a day. cleaned the coils which were very dusty.
Then: Fan works, lights work, but no cooling. Clicks then after a minute, or sometimes a few seconds, it clicks again.
From answers to similar posts it seems start up "kit" or a bad compressor. Is the start up kit just the relay, or relay and capacitor?
If it is a bad compressor, what is the liley amount to fix?

Up date: now the compressor starts up and feels warm, but evap coils are barely cool to the touch, there is no frost on them. Maybe it just needs a freon charge, and to fix the leak?
The system appears to have no threaded ports, it has crimped ends, so unlike with a car, that i can do myself, i have to pay a service guy to come out and put it in. $70 for diagnosis + $ for freon. What should i expect to pay for adding freon ?
This ref is seven years old; is it normal for these systems to lose freon charge after that many years ? Is it about time to replace the compressor anyway? (Esp. since the mfgr will cover the cost of the parts.) or is this about the expected lifespan, and I should forget about the fix and replace the whole ref? (We paid $1800 for it.)
