My ice maker has been broken for about 2 years. Do not want to pay the $250 fee that others have had to pay :( . . . I am willing to fix it myself just do not know where to start? Any help would be appreciated!:o

i know this is not a lot to go on . . . but it is doing a whole lot of nothing :( just one day stopped producing ice . . . it is one of those in-door-ice makers . . . the infrared light is still blinking.

Hi Eileen,

Press in the emitter flapper door to unblock the optics beam and monitor the status LED on the right side. Post the results.

You have to test the ice maker now and you can use the instructions from one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...-maker-quit-working.html

Post the results.

According to the test results looks like the ice maker motor gone bad.

You can replace the control module & motor assembly on the old ice maker or replace the whole ice maker. The module is much less expensive but the rate of success on such repair is less than 30% what makes the whole new ice maker more reliable.

- The part number for the Control module assembly is AP3177342

- The part number for the ice maker is AP3182733
