He might be right, your model # is incorect, just re-check.

The high pitched noise is at approxmiately 3,000 hz if that makes any difference.

The model number I listed is correct. Here's a pic for proof:

Here's what 3000 hz sounds like for reference:

(obviously that alarm is a different sound than my fridge, but the pitch is the same)

Do you have a motherboard behind a metal panel in the back of the fridg?

IM gonna butt in here...I checked your model #, and there is NO motherboard on this model. Does this noise get louder when you open up the freezer door? If it does, then your evaporator fan motor needs to be replaced. If the noise does not get louder when you open the freezer door, and you've stated previous refrigerator repair services said the noise came from your compressor, check the condenser fan motor, located near the compressor. You can further isolate which is making the noise by disconnecting the condenser fan motor from power.

Now, if it turns out it is the compressor, you should be covered by GE's sealed system warranty, which unless they have changed it like some other companies, should be for 5 years.

No. I believe the sound is coming from the bottom of the back of the fridge. Opening the doors doesn't change the volume.

I dunno. The last repair man said it was the compressor itself making the noise and that the noise is "normal." He specifically said it was NOT coming from the fan.

I don't know how much it's covered because it's apparently "normal." He said "we can replace it but the new one will probably make the same noise, or be louder."

Bad product. Bad service.

Everything is under warranty. The fridge is 3 months old.

Try my suggestion to unplug the condenser fan motor and see if the noise continues.

That would allow the condenser to run but the fan to stop, right? Which would definitively rule out the fan, right?

How do I find that and what does it look like and will I electicute myself? I have zero knowledge about this stuff.

lol the repair guy just called and said there's nothing else they can do and the sound is normal.

I'm done with GE.

the fan is a low voltage dc motor, you will not electrocute yourself, because the plug is designed in such a way that you would have to stick a wire into the plug to do anything.
