Hi, I am looking for wiring diagrams or schematics for a Jenn-air model 88370 which is +20 years old.

I am experiencing problems with the oven, both top and bottom elements get hot---but the food is frequently cooked unevenly.

Also the temperature of my cartridge elements is difficult to adjust with the control, it is only warm or too hot.......I am not sure if it is the control or the element, since both elements of the same cartridge acts the same.

A schematics would help me troubleshoot ....

regards

Hi Claude,

I couldn't find the wiring diagram for this model. There should be one inside the unit though.

Both oven elements should be bright red all around. Check it out. Set the oven to BAKE (350 degrees), give it a couple of minutes, then look at the bake element. If the element coil is not consistently red all the way around and has dark spots on it, the element is too weak and needs to be replaced. If the element looks to be ok, then check your oven temperature using an oven thermometer.

As far as the top elements... Since you're saying that both elements do get hot, the problem is most likely with the switches. I know, it is unlikely for both switches to go out at the same time, but this is an older oven and maybe one of the switches started going sometime before the other did. If one of the elements weren't getting red hot, then I'd tell you to check both the element and its receptacle, but that's not the case here.

Hope this helps.

Hi
I've attached two schematics for Jennair Electric stoves. One is for an 88370, which has a little bit of it missing, but you can still tell it is the white line for ground/common. The other schematic, which is complete and shows the white line. It is for an 88368. The schematics appear to be identical except the 88368 doesn't have a clock, and those connections are just wire nutted.

Your posting is about 5 months old, so I may be very late is sending this info. I just today joined the forum.

Thanks for the post of the wiring diag for the 88370. I used to work for JennAir and threw all my old stuff away like a fool, your post helped me and another man in Oregon.

See the attachment.
I took the word .doc and made a .jpg file and then resized it.
Hopefully you will still be able to read it.

Thanks, I think this could save my JennAir...88370 will print and get to work to see what has shorted out.
