I have a Maytag MTF2455DR that was purchased in May of 2000. In the summer of 2004, I started to notice water leakage from the Freezer to behind the Insulation damper when the unit goes on the defrost cycle.

The water runs down the back wall of the refrigerator and pools on the bottom of the fresh food draws.

What can be done with this so that it drains into the housing control area where it is suppose to drain and then exit out the back?

I have given up on Sears Authorized Maytag repair personnel as well as any other Maytag repair people since they keep telling me that there isn’t anything wrong or they can't do anything about it.

Just put me in the right direction so I can fix this problem on my own. I am tired of paying for services not rendered.

There are no clogs in any drain lines, no cracks in any plastic.

Gene,

I have had the back off and there is nothing clogged. The water is draining out and running down the backside of the fridge. It is missing the drain area in the housing control frame directly behind the insulation damper.

It has rollers on the front and back, are these adjustable? As it is now, the fridge is level front to back and left to right. The door stays open in any position that it is placed in, no movement to either open wider or close.


Thanks for helping out... This is driving me crazy. I have had a bowl under this area for over 6 years now. I had a Sears Maytag service tech tell me it was the door gasket. I said okay, change it. It didn't have any cracks. He came back when the gasket arrived and replaced it and then siliconed the insulation damper to the upper part of the fridge(not to bright). I had to replace that whole unit since it was glued in place.

Do you know if there has ever been a recall on this model for this problem?
