Thanks for the quick response. We'll let it run through the weekend and if the frost doesn't build up we'll call it solved. Else I'll run through the steps in your post and order either the heater or controller. Thanks again

Jeff

I'd received the fan today and installed it. Everything is working fine now. For now is the operative words. Thanks again for your help.

I have a Maytag MSD2756DEW and purchased adaptive defrost board part #AP4070403 because the freezer was fine and the refrig was warm. While waiting for the part my hsband checked the auto damper door and it looked as though spring may have been removed. He went through the steps to test the damper door and it worked great after adding spring. The refrigerator worked great for a few days and then warm again with light frost on freezer wall. Today he installed the part ordered. It has been installed for six hours and does not seem to be working. Was he supposed to do anything special prior to installing the part? I ask because the icemaker was making ice and now does not. Water still dispenses, but no ice. Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
Spryte

Spryte,

Does the compressor work?

If there was no frost in the freezer, you did not have to replace the adaptive defrost control.

It does work and ice has now dropped. We are wondering if the auto damper assembly should have been replaced since the spring was not connected when he checked the first time... Also, the FF side seems to be cooling, but realize we will have to wait until the morning to be sure. Thanks for the help Gene

2nd time in 2 weeks or so that my Evap coil built up enough ice to prevent a good flow of air from getting up into the fridge on my 10yr old Amana ARB2107AW / PARB2107AW0. I defrosted it with a hair dryer again tonight. I've read a lot of these posts, but don't know if I need a defrost switch, timer or what. Suggestions on where to begin? Thanks!

I have a Kenmore Elite ColdSpot side-by-side model 106.56703500 about 5 y/o. Last evening we noticed that the frige side was warm - like 60 - 65 degrees. The freezer seemed even colder than previous (Ice cream was hard...normaly it is softer). Also, don't know if it's related or not but we have noticed in the last few days that, occaisonaly, the doors will be very hard to open...almost as if there is some kind of suction going on from inside.

I checked the diffuser (air damper) and it is all the way open. There appears to be no air movement at all from the air-inlet in the frige - even when the freezer door is open.
I checked the outlet for blockage and there is no blockage.

Could this be a fan problem? If so which fan.

First off... thanks for posting up all this great info. I have a Samsung SxS... I believe the model is RS2556SH (but I have to check to be sure). I've had to defrost it with a hair dryer twice so far. The second time, I checked the components as per the information here... heater is running ~95ohms, thermistor is working, fuse runs at ~zero ohms. So now I'm at a loss... I just put it back together for now. Based on past experience, it runs fine for a number of weeks and then I eventually have a solid block of ice back there.

My question is what do I do now? How do I run a self-diagnostic or other test? How do I know if it's the fan or something else? HELP! I don't have a service manual or anything... I was hoping it was a bad thermistor or something simple. Now I'm confused.

Thanks in advance for any help!
