Hi,

My 13-year-old Maytag washer sloshes water over the basket and wets the floor. I recently changed the water level switch because at times the water level seemed too high.

With the new switch, I set the water level at "medium", and even so water sloshes out of the basket.

Months ago, I changed the pump and agitator belts because they were worn and back then water was sloshing out of the basket too

This sloshing is strange behavior... Can someone help me here?

Thank you

Victor

If the water level is still too high clean out the tube coming from the water level switch to the tub.

Syd, Thank you for your response.

Before I bought the waterlevel switch I blew into the levelswitch tube and it was clear... didn´t seemed clogged up or anything. What do you suggest I try from here?

Thank you,

Victor

Is it sloshing out because the water level is too high, or because the motion is too strong.

If the water level is too high you may have gotten a defective water level switch. Yeah, not likely but that is the best explanation.

Sid,

Hi. I cleaned out the waterlevel switch tube -- indeed it was full of gunk and crud. You were right about that! After that, I have no problem with water level. Now, I think the motion of the agitator is too strong or fast. I observed the agitator working by activating the lid switch--it does seem to be strong. What can I do about that?

There is no adjustment, and given the age of your machine see if a water level setting works at a level that you can live with it rather than undertaking a costly repair.

Sid,

Thank you very much for your advice. I am trying to prolong the life of this washer the most I can, but if it doesn't work well with a different water level I think I will retire it. Regards, Victor.

Howdy,
So does age of a machine cause the agitator to move too strong?

Thanks,
Drew

Also, is there a way to diagnose my machine to make sure it is working properly at each stage. For example, is it suposed to spin during the agitate cycle?

It is not supposed to spin during agitation, and this implies a brake problem or a transmission problem
