My refrigerator central control system started to make a noise like a motor was going out. The refrigerator did not keep cool as it should. It would freeze ice but took a long time to freeze. We are thinking the central control system needs to be replaced. We would like to have your opinion on our diagnosis and also could you give instructions on how to replace unit. My husband is mechanically inclined. We would appreciate your advise and direction.

There is no ice build up - the refrigerator is part cold - in fact we quit using it because of the noise and lack of functioning properly and had to purchase another refrigerator, however, because this unit is not very old and in very good condition, we thought we would like to repair it and use it for a second refrigerator. When I look in the freezer the part that was making a noise is called a central cool system.

It's still not clear what did you call "Central cool system". Can you refer to the Replacement parts for AMANA ATB2136ARW Ref - Top Mount | AppliancePartsPros.com ?

Gene.
