My GE side by side ice dispenser lights have been flaky for a couple of months. They would go off and not dispense but pressing the lever again would usually make the dispenser work. However today, the lights stopped totally working and no water is dispensed. I removed the panel behind the dispenser to 'see' if anything is wrong but could not notice anything amiss. Not sure what the problem is and will appreciate feedback. Thanks.

I need to clarify that the ice maker is making ice. No problem with that. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay.

The ice/water dispenser in you refrigerator is operated by the main control board which is located on the back of the refrigerator. The symptoms you described very likely leading to a faulty main control board.

P.S. I'm assuming the model number you posted GS525LGMAWW, should have "S" instead of "5".

Thank you Gene. I will order the part. I seem to have another problem. Initially I assumed that the circuit board behind the water dispenser was the problem. While checking it, I accidentaly removed the ribbon cable out the chip on the board. Now it does not want to go back. Is there an easy way to put it back. I hate to buy that board also since the fridge is about 9 years old and do not want to spend so much. Your advice is appreciated. Regards.
